Cassona Healthcare Group, a lead distributor of advanced imaging technology, has partnered with the Lagos state government on the maiden edition of the Eko Health Convention.
The organisation was one of the sponsors of the convention themed “Lagos Health: Driving Innovation, Strengthening Systems, Leading Change”.
The event brought together policymakers, innovators, health professionals, development partners and changemakers shaping the future of healthcare in Lagos and beyond.
Cassona Healthcare Group also featured a booth at the convention and showcased its high-tech diagnostic equipment and healthcare solutions.
Speaking during the event Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, pledged to build a health system that is accessible, affordable, and innovative.
Represented by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, he said the state has recorded milestones in healthcare delivery over the last six years, adding that the Lagos’ pandemic response and investments in biosecurity infrastructure have positioned the state as a regional leader in epidemic preparedness.

He also said that mandatory health insurance remains central to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC). He further said that the Ilera Eko scheme and the executive order signed in July 2024, making insurance mandatory for all residents, are vital to protecting Lagos residents from financial hardship.
The governor enjoined citizens to take ownership of the state’s health goals, enroll in insurance, adopt healthy lifestyles, and support immunization campaigns.
“The story of Lagos is written by all of us — in our compassion, innovation, and shared resolve to make health not just a promise, but a living legacy for generations to come,” he said.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Kemi Ogunyemi said the government’s key health priorities are universal access to quality healthcare, strengthened public-private partnerships, and the empowerment of citizens to take charge of their wellbeing.
While saying that government could not do it alone, she highlighted that the active involvement of every stakeholder, from professionals to community members, was vital to achieving a sustainable health future for the state.
She further said that with a population representing over 12 percent of Nigeria’s total, Lagos carries an enormous health responsibility that demands strategic planning and inclusive participation.
Cassona Healthcare Group launches operations in Lagos
Meanwhile Cassona Global Imaging Limited, a subsidiary of Cassona
Healthcare Group Inc. USA, had earlier last month launched its
healthcare magazine in Lagos state via a dinner with the healthcare
community in the state. The event also marked the third-year anniversary of the organization in West Africa.

It had started its operations in West Africa, in Ghana in 2022, and in
Nigeria in May 2025 with its official launch in Abuja.
Cassona’s mission is geared towards improving the quality of healthcare delivery in the region through the provision of affordable medical imaging equipment to healthcare institutions, ensuring that equipment is deployed efficiently by training healthcare professionals on their use, and providing technical support and maintenance services for the machines, to prevent downtime.
As part of the company’s commitment towards achieving its mission, it has also provided credit facilities to healthcare partners who are unable to afford an outright purchase.

Speaking at the event, Chairman and CEO of Cassona Healthcare Group Dr. John Chigbu said, “So what do we bring to Africa? Affordability, maintenance and support, training for professionals including financing, so you don’t have to wait years to save, you can get your equipment today.
“And we’re not stopping them. We are building diagnostic and radiology centres. Most doctors starting out cannot afford this equipment, but with our centres, every doctor can simply send their patients there. They can focus on practicing medicine, and we can handle the technology.”
The Special Adviser on Health to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, said the entry of Cassona into Lagos state is a partnership-driven solution that addresses gaps in healthcare delivery.
She said , “What Cassona brings are more solutions, equipment, and support, but it’s a partnership, it’s not just a matter of buying equipment. When you buy equipment through them, you don’t have to worry about training, servicing, or spare parts. Their job is to ensure you get the best performance from your equipment and that is commendable.”

She said that Lagos State’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) recognizes that government alone could not shoulder the burden of healthcare delivery, adding that partnerships with experienced players like Cassona, would help ensure that quality diagnosis and treatment.
Abia State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche, lauded Cassona’s expansion across West Africa. He called on healthcare brands with the “capacity to deliver” like Cassona to partner with the state government to take affordable healthcare to people in the hinterlands of the state.
