The Acting Registrar/CEO of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Dr. Donald Ofili, says the council is committed to collaborating with the West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory Science (WAPCMLS).
He made the commitment yesterday, in Lagos, while addressing the 5th Regional Conference of the College themed ‘Advancing Diagnosis and Medical Laboratory Service Using Cutting Edge Innovations and AI: African Agenda.’
Dr. Ofili highlighted the role of MLSCN in the establishment of the College.
He said,. “From inception over a decade ago, MLSCN had been instrumental to the founding of WAPCMLS, even participating in the official establishment of the College.”
He lauded the growth of the college within a short period, adding “WAPCMLS has risen to become a beacon of excellence, cultivating specialized knowledge and producing highly skilled professionals”.
He also said the council remain committed to working hand in hand with WAPCMLS to fortify its mandate and ensure that Fellows receive proper
recognition within the public service.
The Acting Registrar, further urged the Fellows to actively engage in sharing professional skills and ideas across the sub region.
According to him, such a collaborative spirit will elevate diagnostic standards and support the mission of the West African Health Organization (WAHO).
He, therefore, urged them to maintain excellence and “Continue to distinguish yourselves through professionalism, expertise, steadfast commitment to excellence–true hallmarks of WAPCMLS fellowship.”
Meanwhile, the renewed pledge between MLSCN and WAPCMLS signals a strategic move to harness cutting edge innovations and AI, uniting the region in pursuit of elevated standards in medical laboratory science and health care provision across West Africa.
